Tour Itinerary

Airport Pickup and Your Dubai Layover Begins

Your 8 Hour layover Dubai experience begins with a private pickup at DXB Airport. Your driver will meet you at the agreed arrival point and take you directly into Dubai, with the itinerary planned around your onward flight. Instead of spending your limited time figuring out transport, you can settle in and start discovering the city as soon as you leave the airport.

Old Dubai and the Bistakya Quarter

Your first stop is Old Dubai, where the city feels far removed from the modern skyline you may have seen from the aircraft. Walk through the Bistakya Quarter, also known as the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, with its narrow lanes, traditional houses and distinctive wind towers. This is where you get a glimpse of the trading town that existed before Dubai became a global business and tourism destination.

Abra Boat Across Dubai Creek

Continue to Dubai Creek for one of the most memorable short experiences on the itinerary, a traditional abra boat ride. The wooden boat carries you across the creek towards Deira, passing old trading vessels and giving you a close view of both sides of historic Dubai. It takes only a few minutes, but it provides a completely different perspective of the city.

Gold and Spice Souk

After crossing the creek, explore the Gold and Spice Souk. The Spice Souk is filled with the aromas of saffron, cardamom, dried flowers and traditional spices, while the nearby Gold Souk is famous for its remarkable jewellery displays. The visit is kept focused, allowing you to experience the atmosphere of the markets without allowing shopping to consume your valuable layover time.

Dubai Frame and Museum of the Future

From Old Dubai, continue towards the modern city with a short drive past two distinctive landmarks. Stop for photographs at Dubai Frame, an enormous architectural frame connecting views of old and new Dubai. Continue towards the Museum of the Future for another picture stop. Its striking exterior makes it one of the city’s most recognizable modern landmarks, even if your limited time does not allow for an interior visit.

Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa

The itinerary then moves to Downtown Dubai, where you will visit Dubai Mall and see the Burj Khalifa, the defining landmark of the modern city. Depending on your selected option and available time, you can enter the Burj Khalifa and visit the Observation Deck on the 124th and 125th floors. From this height, Dubai spreads beneath you from the older districts around the creek to the coastline and desert beyond. The observation deck visit requires additional time, so the schedule is managed carefully around your flight.

Dubai Aquarium and Dubai Fountain

While at Dubai Mall, you can also visit the Dubai Aquarium if you choose the additional cost option. Otherwise, continue through the mall before heading outside towards the Dubai Fountain area. The waterfront provides an excellent view of Burj Khalifa and is one of the best places to appreciate the scale of Downtown Dubai. If the fountain performance schedule matches your visit, you may also have the opportunity to see a performance.

Lunch in Downtown Dubai (On your own or by Layovi)

If you would like to have lunch during your layover, a suitable restaurant in or around Dubai Mall can be included. Lunch is optional and the timing depends on your flight schedule. For a shorter connection, keeping the meal brief is usually the better choice, while passengers with a longer connection can enjoy a more relaxed break before continuing the tour.

Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab and Atlantis

Leave Downtown Dubai and continue towards Palm Jumeirah for a drive through one of Dubai’s most recognizable developments. See the palm shaped island and continue towards Atlantis The Palm at the crescent, with time for photographs. The route then takes you towards the Burj Al Arab, where you can stop for photographs and take in the distinctive sail shaped silhouette from the outside.

Return to DXB Airport

Your Dubai sightseeing experience ends with a direct transfer back to DXB Airport. The departure from the city is timed according to your onward flight, allowing a suitable buffer for traffic and airport procedures. An 8 Hour stopover in Dubai can therefore give you a surprisingly broad introduction to the city, combining Old Dubai, traditional markets, the creek and abra boat with Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab and Atlantis The Palm before you return to the airport for your connecting flight.

FAQ?!

What to Do in Dubai in 8 Hours?

For an 8 Hour layover Dubai, focus on the city’s highlights rather than trying to see everything. Start with Old Dubai, including the Bistakya Quarter, an Abra boat ride, and the Gold and Spice Souk, then continue to Downtown Dubai for Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain. If time allows, add a drive through Palm Jumeirah with photo stops at Atlantis The Palm and Burj Al Arab before returning to DXB Airport. An 8 Hour stopover in Dubai is enough for a well planned combination of historic Dubai, modern landmarks and the coastline.

Where to Have Lunch During Dubai Layover Tour?

For lunch during your stopover in Dubai, Downtown Dubai is the most convenient choice, especially around Dubai Mall where you can find a wide choice of international courses restaurants, and also a big food court. It allows you to enjoy a meal without taking a separate detour from the itinerary.
Lunch is optional and can be arranged according to your available time, with a shorter meal recommended for passengers with a tight connection.
Layovi is pleased to have your request to book a lunch on booking at a local fine restaurant.
